Sure Start is an exciting government initiative,
which targets the 0-3 years age group their parents and the communities
they live in. It provides a wide range of services and programmes.
The Sure Start offices are based at Sure Start Family Centre, Ringfort Road in Ballymagroarty, however the project hopes to build a centre especially for Sure Start in the area within the next six months and all services, programmes and activities etc. will be based there.
We provide a range of services and the key feature of these services is that they are locally based, locally focused, family and community led.
The services include the provision of extra support for families
from the antenatal stages of pregnancy and throughout, providing
help and advice in all areas of child development, play, behaviour
and all aspects of health.
Some of the other services Sure Start provide are a toy library,
baby & child drop in clinic, parent & toddler, supportive
home visiting programmes, child accident prevention programmes,
parenting information and support for children with special needs
etc.Monkeynastixs Programme is a fun programme giving a child
a broad range of skills and enhances their confidence and social
abilities.
The team also provide information about existing services and
all opportunities for children in the area they live, advice regarding
specialist services, benefits and how to access these.
If you are an antenatal mother or have a child from 0 - 3 years and live either in Ballymagroarty, Hazelbank Coshquin or Foylesprings area and would like to join Sure Start please contact one of our team.
All of these services will be provided in confidence by a professional in the Sure Start team, who will give you the choice to decide what services suit you best.
